Heavy Rain Expected Across Parts Of The State
1:45 PM CDT | May 5, 2025 - A strong storm system will bring moderate to heavy rain across parts of the state over the next 24 hours. The overall severe risk with this system will be marginal at best with any severe storms storms limited to Southwest Oklahoma. I have attached a looping graphic from one of this morning's weather models. It shows the simulated radar from 7:00 PM today through 7:00 PM tomorrow.
It is very unusual weather for this time of year, characterized by cooler and wetter than normal conditions. On Wednesday, storm chances will be lower with temperatures rebounding. Depending on the degree of heating, we could see a few strong storms late Wednesday afternoon and evening. Hail and wind would be the primary hazards. More seasonably warm weather is expected to return next week. Some increase in our severe weather risk is possible by the middle of next week.
