2024/04/22 - Consecutive Days With At Least Some Severe Risk
1:10 PM CDT | April 22, 2024 - We are going to see several days with at least some risk of Severe Weather for Oklahoma. There is a marginal risk across Southwest Oklahoma late tomorrow (Large Hail & Damaging Winds) and a marginal risk for Western/Central Oklahoma on Wednesday (Large Hail). Nothing too significant is anticipated at this time.
The risk for Severe Weather, including a couple Tornadoes, increases on Thursday. Similar to the system this last week, the environment will be very supportive of supercells, but a capping inversion will exist. This capping inversion could keep the risk on the lower end of the spectrum despite the favorable environment. Any surface-based storms that develop would be capable of Large Hail to the size of Golf Balls, Damaging Winds to 70 mph, and isolated Tornadoes. The dryline shifts eastward on Friday with a similar environment in place ahead of it.
Last but not least, Severe Weather will be possible on Saturday across most of the state. Expect adjustments and probably an upgrade in probabilities as we get closer to the weekend. Saturday may be an active severe weather day in the Southern Plains.
I will be posting additional updates on the weather this week, as well as drawing up my own outlooks. Stay tuned!
